This month, several of our middle school students proudly represented our school at the FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) State Leadership Conference. They joined over 700 students from across the state in a weekend filled with competitions, workshops, and leadership activities.
The FCCLA State Leadership Conference is an incredible opportunity for students to build confidence, strengthen teamwork skills, and explore careers in family and consumer sciences. Through their participation, our students demonstrated dedication, creativity, and a commitment to making a positive impact in their communities.

On March 19th and 20th, Mrs. Fawcett and Mrs. Torud attended a “Teaching the Holocaust Workshop” at Viterbo University. They had the pleasure of listening to many different people from around the world who have a profound and wide understanding of the historic event. One of their favorite parts of the workshop was hearing from a Holocaust survivor, Peter Fiegl. The experience of hearing first-hand stories is becoming increasingly precious, as not many survivors are still alive today. These two teachers are coming away from the Holocaust workshop with new activities and lessons to do with students to deepen their understanding of The Holocaust.

The G-E-T Math Team competed in the Wisconsin Math Council's State Mathematics Contest. The competition is made up of individual and team portions where students must rely on their mathematical understanding to solve complex problems. Congratulations on a wonderful performance!

Congrats to the G-E-T Middle School Wrestling Team. They won the Tri-County Tournament last Friday night in Black River Falls, beating out 12 other teams.
6th grade science students are creating posters using the Frayer Model with their science vocabulary. They are also designing labs for the class to experience the vocabulary words in action.

The 6th grade quiz bowl team represented G-E-T with respect and good sportsmanship at the quiz bowl competition all while taking first and second place.

This last Friday, middle school students got the chance to get outside and enjoy some fresh air. They went tubing at Whitetail Ridge, where 8th graders also had the opportunity to go skiing or snowboarding.
In our 7th grade Business 1 class, young entrepreneurs were tasked with creating a product or service that solves everyday problems. Ideas ranged from products to help them in sports, a handyman service, ways to spice up your water, and many more
Reading Without Walls is a free reading challenge through the Galesville Public Library that encourages students to read a variety of books under different categories: Diverse Abilities, African American Voices, Female Voices, Immigration, Native American Voices, Poverty & Homelessness. When they have read five books they can select a free book donated from the library.

Our seventh graders had an unforgettable adventure at Winona State University’s Biology Department! From hands-on lab experiments to thrilling indoor activities, our students explored the exciting world of science with the help of incredible staff and undergraduate students who made learning fun and engaging.
The day was packed with interactive experiences. Students peered through microscopes to observe fruit flies up close, gaining insight into genetics and scientific observation. A fishing activity taught them about aquatic ecosystems, while a pandemic simulation helped them understand the spread of diseases and the importance of public health.
Geology came to life as students examined meteorites and dinosaur teeth, sparking curiosity about Earth's past. The flume lab provided an exciting way to explore water flow and erosion, making real-world connections to environmental science. The chemistry lab was filled with colorful reactions and exciting experiments, bringing the magic of chemistry to life!
To top it all off, students had the opportunity to challenge themselves on a rock-climbing wall, building teamwork and confidence while having a blast.
We are incredibly grateful to the faculty and undergraduate students at Winona State University for providing such a diverse and engaging learning experience. The variety of activities ensured that every student found something fascinating to explore, making this field trip a truly memorable experience!
