Language Arts Team Mission

The mission of the Middle School ELA  PLC is for ALL students to demonstrate growth in literacy and to understand its correlation to lifelong learning, reading, and success in their chosen endeavors.

Extended ELA Learning Opportunities

What you can do at home to help your student:

  • Discuss your own connections and experiences to the essential question for the StudySync unit.

  • Read the texts along at home and discuss them at home.

  • Encourage use of the unit vocabulary at home.

  • Model reading as a lifelong skill - for work and pleasure.

StudySync Skills

StudySync is our ELA core curriculum, but it can also be used to practice skills and can be "leveled" up or down.  Teachers need to assign skills, they are not freely available to students.

Students are equipped with this app on their iPad.  A library card needed to access.

Students can explore digital and audio texts that are searchable by reading level, subject and interests.  There are a variety of genres.  Students can search by specific title.  Class Code: ejg0218

Quizlet is a great way for students to independently study vocabulary word sets that are created by their teachers.  Students can also explore Quizlets that are created for public use on a variety of subject areas.

Nearpod Logo

Nearpod

Nearpod enhances a wide variety of ELA skills that can be assigned by teachers based on particular standards.  Nearpod is used in core classes and Target Time.
