Sixth-grade students were immersed in the world of Ancient Rome on Wednesday! To kick-off this final unit, they scouted geographical features and heard Rome's founding legend.
Students even participated in a tripartite republican government to solve a classroom problem. Check out Mrs. Knutson's attire as she works to engage her students!

The Spring Fling in Holmen brought everyone together for a day packed with music, dancing, and pure joy. Seeing our students connect and celebrate like this is exactly why we do what we do. It’s all about building that sense of belonging that makes our community so special. A massive thank you to the Holmen School District and everyone who pitched in to make this such a highlight of the year!

Middle school Ag students explored FFA this past week and learned about the History of FFA, including the iconic FFA Official Dress. Students had fun sporting their new skills after tying their ties.

Tech Ed in Action: Building the Future, One Boat at a Time!
Check out what’s happening in our Tech Ed 2 classroom! Our talented students have been hard at work trading textbooks for toolkits as they dive into an incredible hands-on engineering project.
The Challenge
Students are currently in the "design and construct" phase of building custom battery-operated boats. This isn't just about making something that floats; it’s about understanding:
Hydrodynamics: Designing hulls for stability and speed.
Electrical Engineering: Wiring power sources to propulsion systems.
Structural Integrity: Ensuring their vessels can withstand the open water.
The Big Test
All this hard work is leading up to a major event later this year! Once the builds are complete, the class will head down to Lake Marinuka to put their creations to the ultimate test in a real-world environment.
We are so proud of the creativity and problem-solving skills these students are showing. It’s amazing to see the next generation of engineers, builders, and innovators getting their hands dirty and bringing their ideas to life!

Math Team Takes 3rd in State!
We are thrilled to announce that our middle school math team, consisting of Nolan Lilla, Brian Kent, Lauren Britton, Holden Olson, Makinley Moritz, Brynn Collins, Wyatt Kuhn, and Ryder Thoma, earned an impressive 3rd-place finish in this year’s Wisconsin Mathematics Council (WMC) Class B State Mathematics Contest.
Competing against schools from across the state, our students tackled a rigorous series of individual problem sets and a high-stakes collaborative team round. The competition tests advanced reasoning, speed, and accuracy in areas ranging from complex algebra to geometry.
Congratulations!!

Congrats to this week's Caught Being Good Winners. Way to go, middle school students!

This year, the middle school is recognizing outstanding student effort, behavior, and ability by giving out Student of the Term awards. Each term, teachers nominate different students, discuss their accomplishments, and then select one from each grade level. Students then have the opportunity to call home to share the news with their family and enjoy a family celebration breakfast. Way to go, students.
The middle school had its third attendance prize drawing. Students who were absent for two or fewer days of school were eligible to win one of three Amazon gift cards. We were excited to announce that 206 students met the criteria.
Today, G-E-T Middle School students spent their day off in the most meaningful way—listening to Holocaust survivor Irene Miller at Viterbo University. Hearing her story of resilience was a once-in-a-lifetime honor for these young leaders.
We are so proud of our students for choosing to show up, listen, and carry these important lessons forward. Thank you to Irene Miller and Viterbo for such a powerful experience.

Congrats to our Caught Being Good Winners. This month, they also had a chance to win a gift card to our school's à la carte and Ettrick Golf Course.
Our life skills students recently enjoyed a wonderful field trip to Life in Harmony for a music therapy experience. While there, they participated in a fun scavenger hunt and had the opportunity to play different instruments. It was an engaging and enjoyable trip for everyone! We followed up the morning with a delicious lunch at Fazoli’s, and then spent the afternoon soaking up the sunshine and relaxing at the park. It was a great day filled with learning, fun, and fresh air.

Keeping the Balance
To actively see how the pH scale works, 8th-grade science students conducted a lab, Litmus Logic, to determine if common household liquids are neutral, acidic, or basic (alkaline). Students dropped the liquids onto red and blue Litmus paper to determine which side of the pH balance scale they fall on. It was a great way to see Science in action!

We are proud to celebrate a group of our 6th-grade students who recently earned 1st place at the 6th-grade quiz bowl. This quiz bowl was held through the Mississippi Valley Gifted and Talented Network, and these students proudly represented G-E-T. The team competed in four exciting matches, answering a wide variety of challenging questions across science, math, geography, history, and spelling. Each match had 3 rounds that included individual questions, team collaboration, and a speed round. Throughout the competition, our students demonstrated impressive knowledge, quick thinking, and strong teamwork. They worked hard preparing for the event, studying various topics, and working together!

A few hard-working middle school choir students had the opportunity to attend the 2nd annual Couleeland Honor Choir in Whitehall on March 5th. They got to work with students from 14 other neighboring schools and had an excellent time making new friends and creating lasting musical memories.

Our Life Skills students have been hard at work on a special project to help our school run more smoothly! After visiting each classroom to collect current room numbers, the students designed custom new ones that reflect the specific subjects taught in each room. These new signs serve a dual purpose: they are placed above classroom doors for easy identification and in the corner of whiteboards to help students quickly identify the correct room number when screen mirroring. We are so proud of the hard work and creativity our students put into this project to support their peers and teachers!
